At the end of World War II, the German Nazi offensive began to show signs of fatigue. Inside a Nazi concentration camp located in France, a German officer, in an effort to boost morale and simultaneously strike a blow against the Allies, came up with a unique idea: an international soccer match. The strong German team would face off against a weak international prisoner-of-war team. Former English international Colby (played by Michael Caine) saw this as an excellent opportunity for escape and gladly accepted the proposal from the German army. Colby, on one hand, recruited football talents and organized training, while on the other, he dispatched the American Hodge (played by Sylvester Stallone) to escape the concentration camp, contact the underground organization in Paris, and prepare for a coordinated mass escape on the day of the match. As the day of the match drew closer, would they ultimately succeed?
