The film tells the emotional journey of the famous French writer George Sand and the most renowned Polish composer Chopin, from falling in love to experiencing emotional rifts, leading to their eventual separation. The film interweaves two other storylines: George Sand's son, Maurice, is a talentless painter. He is extremely jealous of the love his mother gives to Chopin and Chopin's talent.
