Paul, a New York mob boss (played by Robert De Niro), feels deeply that he has heart disease. Although his check-up shows no signs of it, he seeks treatment from his divorced psychologist friend Ben (played by Billy Crystal) on the recommendation of an old friend. During the therapy sessions, Paul's mobster demeanor terrifies Ben, but their exchanges help alleviate his anxiety. Afterward, even when he faces troubles in his love life, he confides in Ben.
