Due to most parents working in southern cities, the village is left with only the elderly and children. Primary school teacher Yi Mingtang (played by Yi Zhibing) cannot bear to see these children repeat their parents' paths, so he decides to establish a family kindergarten to teach them cultural knowledge. His unemployed wife (played by He Weixin) becomes the principal, and junior high school student Li Xiang (played by Xie Yuan) takes on the role of a teacher. Due to the poor conditions, Yi Mingtang vacates his ancestral home to serve as an activity area for the children. After the kindergarten opens, various unexpected difficulties arise, and some families can't even afford the low tuition fees. Tuo Tuo runs away from the kindergarten because of Li Xiang's inappropriate education, leaving Li Xiang feeling guilty; she wishes to apply to a normal school for systematic training. When Xiu Xiu's mother returns from work, her daughter fails to recognize her, and coupled with her husband's affair, she sadly leaves her hometown. Since Yi Mingtang does not have the qualifications to run a school, the village orders him to shut down the kindergarten. What makes Yi Mingtang heartbroken is thinking about what will happen to these left-behind children in the future...
