Twenty years ago, the powerful Roman Empire sent out the Roman Ninth Legion, consisting of 5,000 elite soldiers, which mysteriously vanished in the Scottish Highlands. Marcus (Channing Tatum), the son of the Ninth Legion's leader, is brave and skilled in battle, leading troops on the front lines. After being seriously injured in a battle, he must recover at his uncle's home. During his recovery, Marcus saves a slave named Esca (Jamie Bell) from the gladiatorial arena and takes him on as a servant. Soon after, Marcus hears that a northern tribe has discovered the eagle standard lost by his father, and he is determined to travel north to reclaim it and restore his father's honor. Marcus sets off with Esca, who is more familiar with the northern environment. Throughout their journey, their master-servant relationship experiences various ups and downs and mutual tests. Particularly when they encounter the fierce Prince of the Seal (Tahar Rahim), Marcus discovers that Esca's identity is far more complex than that of an ordinary slave. Who truly controls the eagle standard, and how did the Ninth Legion meet its demise? The truth becomes increasingly elusive…
