Soon to surpass the marriageable age, percussionist Yi He meets her neighbor Da Ren. The two have a deeper connection after heart-to-heart talks and getting drunk in a pub. When Yi He's family finds out, they mistakenly assume she is pregnant and push for the two to get married. During the wedding preparations, her father, grandmother, and Da Ren are busy like a family, while Yi He feels left out and unable to participate. As events unfold, Yi He contemplates the reasons for her marriage path and reflects on her father's expectations and concerns for her. She faces the conflicting emotions brought about by this "lifetime event." On the day of the wedding, Yi He ultimately decides to runaway and go to the place she truly yearns for.
