12-year-old girl Darwa is strictly controlled by her pedophile father from a young age and shaped into the image of a Barbie doll. She believes she is a woman and that loving her father is not wrong, until her father is arrested. This film is the feature debut of French director Émanuelle Nicot, who takes on a highly challenging moral theme, using restrained and clear visual language to address serious and sharp social issues. The camera closely follows the protagonist Darwa, documenting her difficult journey from being molded into a mature woman through self-awareness, slowly learning to become a young girl. The newcomer actress Selda Samson, who portrays Darwa, received the Rising Star Award at the Critics' Week section of the 2022 Cannes Film Festival for her powerful performance, and the film also won the FIPRESCI Prize in the Parallel Events section of Cannes.
