Yana (played by Lena Klenke) is a beautiful 17-year-old girl who, unlike other girls her age, appears very pale and quiet. In fact, Yana suffers from congenital heart disease, preventing her from engaging in any intense physical activities, and she doesn't know which day or moment death might take her life. The dullness of her life makes Yana feel suffocated, gradually losing her passion for living, until one day she witnesses a thoroughbred horse running. This vibrant scene makes her heart feel alive, and Yana falls in love with the sport of horse racing. Paul (played by Dieter Hallervorden) is an experienced horse trainer who understands how important horse racing is to Yana.
