Young boy Zhu Yunxiang (played by Bi Xiaohai) loses his father and has no one to care for him. Mr. Zhang (played by Jin Shijie), an old janitor from the mainland, is cold on the outside but warm on the inside, and takes care of young Xiang for a while before Zhu Yunxiang's mother, Wu Chunlan (played by Hao Lei), arrives. Wu Chunlan moved from the mainland to Taiwan over a decade ago, and after her brief dream fell apart, she went through a prison term, now living in a disreputable place. Her stepfather (played by Dai Liren), who makes a living by selling goods in the street, is filled with resentment and holds a lot of grievances against young Xiang's arrival. Fortunately, young Xiang befriends a local small-time gangster, Pistol Boy (played by Na Dou), who takes young Xiang for a ride on a stolen motorcycle. Although Pistol Boy’s activities, such as stealing and robbing elementary students, are quite improper, they add some excitement to young Xiang's monotonous life. Young Xiang rarely draws unless necessary, but he has made a drawing for both his father and Pistol Boy. The third drawing is of his older brother from his dreams, who has actually been missing for three years and was killed by his stepfather. What will young Xiang's fourth drawing depict?
