Surrounded by the vast ocean, the youth Kaidou (played by Nijirou Murakami) and the girl Anko (played by Junko Yoshinaga) experience their own moments of life's fluctuations on Amami Oshima Island. On a full moon night, Kaidou witnesses a tattooed man floating in the sea at the moment before his death, profoundly affecting him. Disgusted by his mother (played by Makiko Watanabe) and her entanglements with men, he decides to visit his father (played by Jun Jun Murakami) in Tokyo. Anko's mother (played by Miyuki Matsuda) is a witch greatly respected by the islanders, but even the witch cannot escape the fate of life and death. As her mother’s illness worsens, Anko's reserved heart crumbles. The troubled youth and maiden are filled with sorrow; the sounds of waves, wind, songs, and piano converge into a hymn about life… This film is the screen debut of actor Jun Murakami and his son Nijirou Murakami, the child of singer UA.
