Damien (played by Damien Bonnard) is a painter and also a patient with bipolar disorder. He experiences extreme fluctuations in life and art. Sometimes, he passionately immerses himself in his artistic creations, staying awake for days; at other times, he is obsessively devoted to household chores; sometimes, he energetically organizes outings for his family, displaying a strong desire for performance. Yet there are times when he falls into a deep depression, feeling gloomy and hopeless, believing he has achieved nothing. When Damien has another episode, his wife Leïla (played by Leïla Bekhti) endures immense pain and pressure. She feels helpless and has to share the responsibility with Damien's father to admit him to the hospital for compulsory treatment. All of this is witnessed by their son, who cannot understand his father's illness nor the gradual breakdown of his parents' relationship. When Damien returns from the hospital, the son feels overjoyed, but little does he know that this only signifies the beginning of his mother's mental and physical exhaustion leading to a breakdown.
