The story is set in 1969. Ilias (played by Yorgos Karayannis) is a 10-year-old boy from Athens who loves astronomy and Jules Verne's novels. Ilias greatly admires his father, a travel salesman who tragically dies in a traffic accident during a business trip. Before leaving, his father promised to return in time to watch the live broadcast of the moon landing with him, and his unexpected death plunges the family into grief. However, Ilias refuses to accept this reality, firmly believing that his father is still alive, and creates an imaginary world. He shares sci-fi stories with his friends and even writes letters to his grandmother in his father's name. He plays both roles, as if his father is still by his side. Ilias's mother and his godfather have been trying to pull him back to reality, so they take him on a vacation.
