The story takes place in a small riverside town in Hunan. Stubborn and headstrong, Xiao Jing (Yin Yaning) has been deaf and mute since childhood. After her parents' divorce when she was young, she now lives with her grandfather and uncle (Yu Xuan). Years of being unable to communicate normally with others have distorted her personality, making Xiao Jing increasingly enigmatic and pushing her towards the edge of ethical and moral boundaries. Bar singer Xiao Mei (Wu Bingbin) is free-spirited and, after a fierce argument with her mother, she finds herself homeless and refuses to go back home. However, the harsh realities of life leave this naïve girl feeling lost and confused; she doesn't know how to move forward and struggles with a seemingly strong but actually fragile heart, unsure of where her warm nest can be found. Officer Zhang Haoyang (Li Qiang), feeling out of place in his time, has been widowed for many years and, after divorcing his ex-wife, is eager to find another woman, yet he always fails to meet the right one. He wishes to have a son, despite having had a deaf and mute daughter... The film won the Best Film "Firebird Award" at the 36th Hong Kong International Film Festival’s New Talent Competition in 2012 and the NETPAC Award for Best Asian Film at the 10th Vladivostok International Film Festival in 2012.
