In order to focus on his studies, the honest and awkward mathematician David Sumner (played by Dustin Hoffman) returns to an old house in the English countryside with his wife Amy (played by Susan George). Amy's sexy and bold attire attracts the crude gazes of the village men, while David's seemingly cowardly demeanor emboldens them further. One day, under the guise of hunting, they lure David out of the house and subsequently gang-rape Amy. Faced with this humiliation, David can only force a smile. One night, the slow-witted Nils accidentally kills the girl he admires and, in panic, escapes to David's house. The angry villagers demand David hand over Nils, and when he refuses, they try to force their way in. David, filled with rage, reaches a breaking point and begins a massacre…
