The film is adapted from the forensic scientist Qin Ming's novel "The Corpse Speaker." It tells the story of Qin Ming (played by Yan Yikuan), known as the "Ghost Hand, Buddha Heart," who has performed autopsies on over 1,000 corpses without making a mistake. He accidentally discovers that the "Mute Body Master," preserved in formaldehyde for six years, was murdered, raising media questions about a misjudgment and thrusting him into the eye of public scrutiny.
