Fan Gao Shang (played by Leung Siu Lung) is an antique dealer who attempts to obtain the invaluable head of the Acala Buddha. Gu San (played by Lai Hei) is Fan Gao Shang's subordinate who participates in the theft of the Buddha head. Gu San's grandmother is gravely ill and requires a huge sum for medical expenses, so Gu San sells the Buddha head privately to Sun Ming Xian (played by Yuan Hua) and runs away with the money, which angers Fan Gao Shang greatly. Later, Gu San meets a woman named Lian Er (played by Lu Yuan Yuan), and they share similar interests and understand each other. Lian Er's father, who has been missing for many years, unexpectedly finds the Buddha head abroad, buys it, and brings it back to Jinan. The reappearance of the Buddha head makes Fan Gao Shang eager to act; he kidnaps Gu San's grandmother and demands the Buddha head in exchange. Reformed, Gu San is determined not to aid the wicked, and he collaborates with the police, ultimately bringing the greedy Fan Gao Shang to justice.
