In 1997, Dr. Jin Tiesheng (played by Andy Lau), one of the "Ten Future Leaders" selected by the United Nations, finds himself entangled in a murder conspiracy. Several other future leaders die one after another, and meanwhile, communication breakdowns occur across Hong Kong, with some individuals dying in human explosions... The police quickly initiate protection for Jin Tiesheng; however, he remains deeply in mourning over the loss of his girlfriend, Adele (played by Lisa S), rejecting protection from the British MI6 and requesting his elementary school classmate — CID officer Jiao Dapeng (played by Anthony Wong) to accompany him closely. As Jiao Dapeng and MI6 delve deeper into the investigation, many suspects are eliminated, but Jin Tiesheng encounters bizarre occurrences again — the deceased Adele sends him a card containing the address of a heavily protected MI6 figure, who soon disappears without a trace. The police infiltrate a Japanese network to obtain partial information about the plotters behind the series of events — they have focused on numerous descriptions of the apocalypse found in various religious texts. At this point, Adele reappears, leaving tickets for Jin and Jiao to Prague, where perhaps all questions will be answered...
