The film tells a story of "revolutionary discipline that must be remembered at all times." A company from the First Red Army is renowned for its bravery and combat skills, achieving remarkable accomplishments time and again. However, this company has a major flaw: it rarely follows regulations and frequently violates military rules. From the company commander Xu Hao to the deputy commander, their tone is rather harsh, and at one point, this creates a poor relationship between the military and the local people. In light of this situation, Mao Zedong (then a division commander) sends party representative Li Ying (played by Gao Lu, the lead actress in "When Flowers Bloom") to the company to enforce discipline. Initially, the company members are resistant to this female party representative, and Li Ying faces numerous difficulties in her work. Later, through an incident involving a young soldier named Zhuzi, company commander Xu Hao is touched; he realizes that this party representative is very kind and develops a subtle affection for her. In order to redeem themselves by achieving merits, this company cleverly completes the combat mission assigned by their superiors while heading south. However, due to the deputy commander's repeated violation of military regulations, the party representative sacrifices her life. Before military rules, the deputy commander is executed, and the film ends on a symbolic note.
