A polar icebreaker named "Gromov" suddenly encounters a moving iceberg. The violent collision causes a polar explorer to fall into the sea. In an attempt to rescue the fallen, the ship sustains severe damage. Upon learning of this situation, the ship's headquarters immediately dispatches a new captain named Shepchenko to the "Gromov."
