Evan (Guy Pearce) is a respected university professor with a very devoted wife. In both family life and career, Evan is undoubtedly a role model in the eyes of his friends. However, in reality, Evan is a suave scoundrel who has complicated relationships with many of his female students. One day, a girl named Joyce (Odeya Rush) mysteriously dies; she was one of Evan's students. Joyce's death quickly attracts the attention of Detective Marloy (Pierce Brosnan), and as the investigation deepens, various clues point to Evan as the suspect. Although Marloy has strong suspicions about Evan, he cannot find any solid evidence to convict him. Meanwhile, Evan's wife also becomes aware of her husband's lewd activities.
