This film tells the legendary story of a talented blind pianist battling against an unjust fate. The protagonist, Mietek, was born into a poor farming family in Poland. At the age of 12, he gradually lost his eyesight due to illness and experienced abandonment by his father, the early death of his mother, and a cold, helpless life in a monastery. Despite his musical talent, his journey as a pianist is constantly accompanied by cold stares and mockery. In his pursuit of playing the piano, he faces numerous obstacles and further betrayal from friends and loved ones. This seemingly powerless individual, repeatedly toyed with by fate, has only his music as a means of resistance.
