Young girl Julia (Matilda Lutz) is separated from her boyfriend Holt (Alex Roe), and they miss each other. One night, after a strange dream, Julia finds that Holt has vanished, and during a video call, a frantic woman is screaming questions while searching for Holt's whereabouts. Worried, Julia sets off to Holt's school, where she accidentally meets the girl from the video, Skye, only to witness Skye's bizarre death. Shortly after, Holt appears and reveals that he has participated in an experiment by Professor Gabriel (Johnny Galecki), which seemingly aims to prove the existence of the soul after death. However, they are actually watching a cursed videotape, where viewers must pass the tape to the next "substitute" before they die, but the death toll continues to rise. Just then, Julia also watches the terrifying tape...
