A female reporter (played by Ye Dehian) is commissioned to follow and interview a social worker (played by Fung Sui Fan) dedicated to helping mental health patients. For over twenty years, he has been dealing with street homeless individuals, aiming to guide them towards recovery, but his efforts go unrecognized. The female reporter witnesses his care for a garbage man (played by Chow Yun-fat), a drifter in the vegetable market (played by Tony Leung), and a recovering patient (played by Qin Pei), along with their poignant stories. The recovering patient actually suffers from intermittent mental illness and, overwhelmed by life's pressures and missing his son, he barges into a kindergarten with a knife, causing a tragedy...
