Ren Laole's daughter and Li Laoda's son are set to marry, but on the day of the engagement feast, the two families end up in a fierce argument. The Ren family wants to recruit a son-in-law, while the Li family wants to marry off their daughter, and neither side is willing to compromise. However, Ren Laole has a keen eye and comes up with a great idea: the two families should pool their money to buy a hand tractor. This way, not only can they support the children's marriage, but they also gain a useful laborer, achieving a win-win situation. Unexpectedly, this plan faces opposition from his wife, Aunt Le, and Li Laoda. Unable to satisfy either his wife or his in-laws, Ren Laole bravely traded building materials for a hand tractor. Just as the Li family was basking in the joy of the wedding, Ren Laole's tractor arrived, drawing everyone's attention and ruining Li Laoda's mood. Enraged, Li Laoda dragged his son, who knows how to drive a tractor, back home. With heavy rain falling, the tractor is stranded in the empty lot, and Ren Laole is in a panic. He finally gets the tractor home, only to be locked out by Aunt Le. However, Ren Laole's efforts were not in vain; that hand tractor really helped him save face. It "competed" with Li Laoda's hoe in two rounds and achieved a resounding victory. The first time was when transporting manure, which left Li Laoda unable to "monopolize" the task and exhausted him instead; the second time was when assisting with work, causing Li Laoda’s efforts to be fruitless while Ren Laole ended up helping those in need. Later, Ren Laole also partnered with the needy to open a bamboo and rattan workshop, diversifying his business and improving their lives. In an effort to get ahead, Li Laoda arranged another marriage, as the bride from that family was robust and they also offered a cow with calves as a dowry. Ultimately, his family was torn apart with some falling ill and others leaving, all clamoring to separate from him, and even seedlings could not be planted. What angered him more was Ren Laole, who, instead of lending a hand, took the opportunity to raise the labor prices. As it turned out, this was Ren Laole's "poison to treat poison" strategy to "cure" Li Laoda. Eventually, Li Laoda realized his mistakes and reconciled with his in-laws.
