This film is based on the life of Ernie Davis, a famous American football player who was the first African American to win the Heisman Trophy, the highest award in college football. He led the Syracuse University football team to two national championships in 1960 and 1961. However, after graduating, he was unable to participate in professional football due to being diagnosed with leukemia, and he sadly passed away the following year.
