After the death of the old estate owner, the unfortunate mother and her four daughters are expelled from the estate by the eldest son. With the help of relatives, they settle in a small cottage. The domineering sister-in-law never anticipated that her brother Edward (Hugh Grant) fell in love with the eldest sister Eleanor (Emma Thompson) among the three sisters. Despite her affections for Edward, the rational Eleanor struggles to suppress her feelings due to the disparity in their social status. Meanwhile, the younger sister Marianne (Kate Winslet) and the handsome officer Willoughby (Greg Wise) fall passionately in love. Emotional and expressive, Marianne openly reveals her admiration for Willoughby, even disregarding the feelings of her suitor Colonel Brandon (Alan Rickman). Unbeknownst to her, Willoughby is not honorable and does not truly value Marianne's affections. The romantic situations of the two sisters fall into crisis. Who among the two sisters with such different personalities will find true love and achieve their wishes? How will the mother and her daughters navigate their way out of life's difficulties?
