In an accident, Will (Jack Nicholson) hits a wild wolf with his car. When he gets out to check the situation, the wolf bites him. Will doesn’t think much of the injury, but since the accident, some strange changes begin to occur in him. His senses become extraordinarily sharp, and his temper gets increasingly volatile; all the signs indicate that Will is slowly transforming into a wolf. An animal research expert, Alexias (Om Puri), confirms Will’s suspicions and gives him a talisman that can temporarily help him control his wildness. Will's wife, Charlotte (Kate Nelligan), has died, torn by a throat injury. Will’s friend Laura (Michelle Pfeiffer) provides an alibi for him, and when Laura finds herself in danger, Will transforms into a werewolf without hesitation to save her.
