Dane Jensen is employed at a headhunting firm, facing heavy performance metrics and intense market competition daily, spending most of his time in the office and on the phone. The company's owner, Ed, is a profit-driven businessman who believes that a qualified salesperson should stop at nothing to achieve their goals. Dane has what seems like a happy family—a stay-at-home wife, Elise, and three children—but he struggles to carve out time for them from his work, leading to repeated expressions of dissatisfaction from Elise. Dane notices that his eldest son, Ryan, is gaining weight and has bruises, and he encourages him to lose weight through exercise. However, it’s not that simple. Ryan’s medical checkup results shock the entire family as he is diagnosed with leukemia. Meanwhile, Dane's rival in the office is climbing the ranks, adding to his stress as he shuttles between the office and the hospital, feeling exhausted both mentally and physically. His priorities between work and family begin to shift. He does his best to help Ryan pursue his dream of becoming an architect, taking him to see famous buildings in Chicago. Through his time with his son, he feels the child’s admiration for his work, leading to a shift in his attitude and thoughts about work. But at that moment, he receives a termination letter. Although unemployed, he remains undeterred thanks to the support of his family. As Ryan's condition improves, Dane decides to start his own headhunting company, receiving support from previous clients and his family.
