When oil worker Paul Sturgis (played by Josh Lucas) takes his family to Bahia Negra, the vibrant Mexican seaside town he once knew mysteriously collapses. In this decaying ghost town, the last remaining residents tell Paul that the offshore platform has awakened “El Demonio.” Fearing being left alone, the family follows Paul to the platform, and just as they board, the boat and the adventurous guide bringing them are violently attacked by a massive black shark. This shark is unlike any other; a legendary beast known as the Black Devil. It claims dominion over the local waters, fiercely protecting nature from human threats. It kills everything and continuously assaults the oil drilling platform itself, weakening it and threatening to destroy it. Paul and his family, along with a few survivors, find themselves trapped, now discovering that explosives have been set on the platform’s legs. Under the relentless assault of the enormous monster, time slipping away, Paul must find a way to keep his family alive and get back to shore.
