This film brings to the screen the tumultuous life of Edward Wilson, one of the founders of the Central Intelligence Agency. Edward Wilson (played by Matt Damon) harbors a profound sense of honor rooted in the tragedies of his childhood. In 1939, while studying at Yale University, he is recruited by the secret society "Skull and Bones" and soon after joins the Strategic Services during World War II. Wilson becomes a core member and creator of the agency. However, years of deceit and betrayal increase his paranoid nature, and during the Cold War, the initial ideals of his youth have been completely eroded. Professional inertia has pushed Wilson away from a normal life, deepening the conflicts between him and his wife Margaret (played by Angelina Jolie), leading their marriage to the brink of collapse.
