Veer (Shahrukh Khan) is an Indian Air Force rescue pilot who is diligent in his work and filled with a sense of justice in his heart. In an accident, Veer saves a woman named Zara (Preity Zinta), and her beauty and fragility lead Veer to almost instantly decide to see her as his one and only love for life, and Zara feels the same way. Unfortunately, Zara is Pakistani, and the political and religious divide creates an unfathomable gap between her and Veer.
