Aging couple Ben (played by John Lithgow) and George (played by Alfred Molina) have been together for nearly forty years. After same-sex marriage became legal in New York, they finally hold a poetic wedding in Manhattan and vow to spend their lives together. However, this act leads to George’s dismissal from the church school. With their source of income gone, they can no longer afford their apartment rent and are forced to leave their beloved home, staying separately with friends and family. The warm blessings from their wedding quickly turn into a test of the reality of their relationship. As they search for a new home, their long-distance living situation also tests their long-standing love. Director Ira Sachs won the Teddy Award at the Berlin Film Festival for "Keep the Lights On." His latest work, "Love is Strange," is not just a gay film; it tells the story of life lived together, conveying a quietly flowing love amid various troubles and trivialities.
