Turner (played by Dexter Gordon) was once a very famous saxophonist, but now, in his old age, he hides in a high-end nightclub in New York, playing for the entertainment of the guests. Unable to endure the lonely days, Turner eventually leaves the nightclub and heads to Paris, where he joins the first group of black musicians.
