In Yorkshire, England, during the Great Depression, the Gaklaw family, led by Sam Gaklaw (played by Donald Crisp), is struggling financially, with their only valuable possession being a clever sheepdog named Lassie. Lassie is the good companion of the youngest son, Joe (played by Roddy McDowall), but under financial pressure, Sam sells Lassie to a wealthy duke (played by Nigel Bruce). Deeply missing her owner, Lassie runs away several times. Finally, in distant Scotland, Lassie embarks on a journey back to her true home. The colorful film "Lassie Come Home," released in 1943, is based on the eponymous work by British author Eric Knight. This well-known children's tale recounts the legendary journey home of a sheepdog named Lassie, who is as intelligent as a human. Lassie’s adventurous experiences have become one of the most enduring stories, leading to multiple adaptations in films, television series, and radio plays. The film was nominated for Best Cinematography (Color) at the 16th Academy Awards in 1944.
