Hu Xueji (played by Wang Zuxian) is a fox spirit, protected by the fox mother, the Nine-Tailed Pipa Spirit (played by Yao Wei), and serves her loyally. Wei Shilang (played by Li Weiqiang) is born into a family that makes a living by selling fox fur and is a thorn in the fox mother’s side. The fox mother sends Hu Xueji to seduce and kill Wei Shilang for revenge, but during the process, Hu Xueji is touched by Wei Shilang's sincerity and kindness, and she inadvertently falls in love with him. The Hunter King (played by Wu Ma) loses a friend to a fox demon, and with his friend’s dying wish in mind, the Hunter King becomes intent on eradicating the fox demon.
