Alice (played by Heather Graham) and Klaus (played by Ulrich Thomsen) have a marriage that exists only in name. By chance, she encounters the rough-edged man Adam (played by Joseph Fiennes), and the two quickly fall in love, entangled in a web of sexual satisfaction and emotional dependence that she cannot escape.
