This film depicts King Naresuan, the most revered great king by the Thai people, whose deeds are widely legendary. He was born in 1555 and his reign ended in 1605. In 1592, he achieved a remarkable victory at the Battle of Suvarnabhumi, where he killed a Burmese prince and freed Thailand from Burmese control. To commemorate his great achievements, the Thai people built a 72-meter tall stupa in Ayutthaya. In the 16th century, Naresuan, the son of King Maha Thammaracha of the Ayutthaya kingdom, was captured and taken to Hongsawadee (present-day Myanmar) as a hostage, where he grew up. Upon returning to his homeland in 1571, Naresuan laid a new foundation for the Ayutthaya kingdom with his excellent leadership. However, the new king of Hongsawadee, Nandabayin, was eyeing Naresuan and wanted to eliminate him. After the death of his father in 1590, Naresuan successfully ascended the throne and declared the independence of the Ayutthaya kingdom, waging war against Hongsawadee.
