In the 11th century BC, ancient Egypt faced multiple difficulties, with external threats from the Assyrian wars and a massive debt to Phoenician merchants, bringing the nation to the brink of bankruptcy and the people to poverty. Ramses XII fell gravely ill and died, and his son Ramses XIII was declared the Pharaoh's heir. To prevent Egypt's rapid decline, the young Ramses XIII decided to seize the treasures stored in temples for generations, using them for social reform and to wage war against Assyria. However, the clergy opposed his plans, leading to political and religious struggles between the priests and the young Pharaoh.
