The fishing industry in Malta is gradually declining. Jesmark, born into a fishing family, is forced to take risks to support his wife and child by attempting illegal fishing deals. The film has a strong realism style, exploring various social issues through the perspective of local Maltese fishermen, cleverly interwoven with a deeply moving family story, revealing the tragic truths behind the beautiful landscapes of the Mediterranean. Many characters, including the male lead, are played by local fishermen, offering a genuine and natural performance. This film is the first Maltese film to debut at the Sundance Film Festival and ultimately won the Special Jury Award for World Cinema at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival.
