Drag performer Bernadette (played by Terence Stamp) and Mitzi (played by Hugo Weaving) reunite after the death of a friend. Mitzi invites Bernadette to join him for a performance opportunity in a central Australian city, and they are accompanied by Felicia (played by Guy Pearce), who dreams of becoming the "Desert Queen" and borrows a modified bus as transportation.
