This film is adapted from Chetan Bhagat's 2009 novel of the same name, telling the story of a Punjabi guy, Krish, and a Tamil Brahmin girl, Ananya, as they navigate their romance and the challenges of getting married. When a smart man meets an intelligent woman, is it a perfect match or a fierce competition? When a domineering mother-in-law faces an opinionated mom, is it a life-and-death struggle or a bitter rivalry? When love meets the future, and marriage encounters gang culture, how do they deal with separation, betrayal, exploitation, cultural differences, dysfunctional families, hysterical relatives, and a scheming environment?
The inspiration for the work comes from the author's real-life experience: two young people from different backgrounds and cultures in India, deeply in love and ready to marry. Of course, their parents do not approve. To turn their love into marriage, they need to fight a difficult battle in front of their elders. Rebellion and struggle are easy, but achieving success is challenging. Can they do it? Will they overcome numerous obstacles, or will they give up for unavoidable reasons?
In recent years, Chetan Bhagat's works have been continuously adapted into films, such as "Hello," "3 Idiots," and "The Can-Do Life."
