On the streets of Moscow, the flower-season girl Lilya (played by Oksana Akinshina) is boasting to her friends about moving to America with her mother. However, upon returning home, her mother tells her she has to stay and live with her aunt. The aunt seizes the opportunity to take over her house, forcing her to move into a filthy, run-down apartment. Lilya's fairy-tale fantasies instantly collapse, and she finally believes she has been abandoned by her mother. Feeling lonely and helpless, Lilya can only find a bit of comfort from her only friend, a boy named Volodya (played by Artyom Bogucharsky). To survive, Lilya is forced to resort to a life of selling her body. When the kind-hearted and naive Lilya thinks she has found true love, she recklessly goes to Sweden. Little does she know, this hellish life is just beginning... The child star Oksana Akinshina received a nomination for Best Actress at the 2002 European Film Awards for this role.
