It is said that the tiger-fighting hero Wu Song (played by Li Lijuan) kills a tiger with three punches, but he is warmly invited by many hunters to join them. Wu Song then turns to his older brother Wu Dalang (played by Cheng Kuian), who hires him at an extremely low wage to sell pancakes. Wu Song, filled with resentment, ultimately decides to take the imperial examination to become an official. During a patrol, Wu Song unintentionally saves Guan Er, who was being hunted down. Before dying, Guan Er gifts him a bellyband that contains a treasure map of the "Divine Weapon." Following the map's guidance, Wu Song checks into the "Peninsula Hotel," where he unexpectedly encounters Wu Dalang's wife Pan Jinlian (played by Wang Qian) in an affair with her lover Ximen Qing (played by Liu Yida).
