One day, the owner takes his pet dog Chance (voiced by Michael J. Fox), Shadow (voiced by Sally Field), and Shadow (voiced by Ralph Waite) to the airport, deciding to head to Los Angeles for an exciting camping trip. However, timid dog Chance misunderstands his owner's intentions, thinking he is being abandoned, and runs off in a panic. Reluctantly, Shadow and Petit follow to ensure Chance's safety. The three little animals find themselves stranded on the bustling streets of San Francisco, facing not only the fierce local stray dogs but also the dog-catching team from the dog shelter that is out to capture them. Ultimately, the three lovable animals use their wits to reunite with their owner.
