This film tells the spiritual journey of two rural boys experiencing the weaning of their innocence. Liangzi (played by Li Ming) accidentally injures a hen that is laying eggs with a slingshot. From then on, the injured hen only eats but doesn't lay eggs. His mother, unwilling to waste food, plans to sell it at the market.
