Recently, several prominent public figures in the political and broadcasting sectors have been murdered, with perplexing combinations of letters and numbers left at the scenes in each case. After some reasoning, Sugishita Ukyo (played by Yutaka Mizutani) concludes that these symbols come from chess notation. Meanwhile, his partner, Kameyama Kaoru (played by Yasufumi Terawaki), tracks down a website called the People's Court, which lists a series of public figures and outlines their crimes, allowing members to vote on whether to sentence them to death; notably, the names of the deceased are prominently featured among them.
