In 1941, Polish immigrant Leonard Chess (played by Adrien Brody) strives to succeed by starting a bar. Meanwhile, Mississippi sharecropper McKinley Morganfield (played by Jeffrey Wright), carrying his guitar and music dreams, arrives in Chicago. On the street, he meets 17-year-old harmonica prodigy Little Walter, and they quickly bond, beginning to perform at Chess's bar. Ambitious Chess uses his keen intuition and business acumen to establish Chess Records, recording music for Waters and achieving great success. During his time managing Chess Records, he welcomed musical talent and introduced innovative ideas, creating a significant number of artists that profoundly impacted the American music scene...
