During World War II, the Allies struggled to decipher Germany's secret system "Enigma." The government gathered a group of civilian mathematicians and logicians for a covert operation, among them was Turing (played by Benedict Cumberbatch). At the beginning of the project, Turing faced rejection from his team led by Hugh (Matthew Goode); fortunately, the head of military intelligence, Menzies (Mark Strong), supported him in initiating research to build a machine to break the code, making Turing the lead and recruiting a new member, Joan (Keira Knightley), to start the arduous work. Joan quickly developed a crush on Turing, and with her help, the team became unusually united, successfully cracking the German codes two years later. Turing briefly got engaged to Joan, but in reality, he was hiding a secret, which led to inhumane treatment for him... The film is adapted from Andrew Hodges' biography "Alan Turing: The Enigma" and won the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay at the 87th Oscars.
