In the exciting national tournament of the Master match, Chihaya Ayase (played by Suzu Hirose) is unable to face off against Queen Shinomiya Wakamiya (played by Mayu Matsuoka), and she is determined to defeat the queen next year. Meanwhile, the eternal master Suo Fumito (played by Kento Nakajima) triumphs over teacher Harada (played by Jun Kunimura), and his outstanding performance reignites Arata Wataya's (played by Makoto Shinkai) passion for karuta. Afterward, Arata confesses his feelings to Chihaya, and they both prepare actively for the upcoming national tournament at their respective schools. Now in their third year, Chihaya and her teammates recruit new members, while Taichi Mashima (played by Shuhei Nomura), upon learning of the new confession, seems to lose his enthusiasm for karuta and subsequently misses the crucial Tokyo qualifiers. After slowly realizing his feelings, Taichi gains Suo’s approval and is able to learn from him. Young people, each with their own concerns, strive forward towards the new year’s championship… This film is adapted from the manga of the same name by Yuki Suetsugu.
