The death of her husband Peter (Aden Young) leaves Dawn (Charlotte Gainsbourg) heartbroken. At this moment, Dawn's little daughter Simona (Morgana Davies) tells her that Peter's spirit resides in a huge banyan tree in the yard, silently watching over the whole family. Supported by the banyan tree, Dawn gradually begins to emerge from the pain and sorrow of losing her beloved. The appearance of the wonderful young man George (Marton Csokas) allows Dawn to feel the joy of being loved and cared for once again. Unexpectedly, the relationship between Dawn and George faces strong opposition from her daughter. Simona cannot believe that her mother could love another man besides her father. Meanwhile, the banyan tree in the yard seems to be well aware of what is happening to Dawn, and it begins to intervene in Dawn's life in its own way.
